It's been a while since my last post. Why? Because I haven't had time to draw. I haven't even had time to read! All my procrastinating and thinking that I still had more time to work on homework and have fun has finally caught up to me. I'm running out of time! So these past few weeks/days have been art-less.
Anyway, so that's the theme behind this drawing. Time is inescapable, wherever you go, and it will always be there. Lame! :P

I've been cutting and pasting (literally! not computer terms!) lately. Did a collage of Times pictures and words on my folder (yes, I've regressed back to middle school) and also some other arts and crafts. So fun! So anyway, thought I'd do some more cutting and taping (because I don't have glue) tonight and came up with this. At first I could not get them to fit and look good, but finally decided to just settle on this. Thank goodness I kept the construction paper from way back when instead of sending it to America with the parents. It has come in quite handy recently. I also bought new pens. Yup, I couldn't help it. All my other pens are pretty much out of ink, and if I wanted to wait for pens from Taiwan, I'd have to wait until winter break, which I didn't want to. So! I went and bought a set of four (different tip sizes) and spent too much. :P

Wow, I hated this as I was drawing it. Had to do some modifications and such, but I just kept at it because I wanted to see the finished result before discarding it into the "fail" pile. It's not really fail, but it didn't turn out as well as I had wanted or hoped. Sigh. I suck at drawing realistic things, even if it's just a simple outline. Bleh.

It's not that I haven't been drawing. I have! Just that everything I've drawn just looks blah. I tried drawing a star which turned into a tomato. Tried drawing some monsters for Halloween that ended up in the trash. Drew my cousin, which turned out ok but didn't really capture who she is. Then I drew this one. It turned out ok, I'm not particularly in love with it or anything. Sigh. Although it did give me an idea to draw something else. But who knows how that'll turn out.
Aghhhh, I need to get over this drawer's block! >.< Sigh.

My cousin! Well, my attempt at drawing my cousin. >.< I have realized that hair is really important because everything else kind of remains the same. At the same time, it's hard to capture a person's character based on hair alone. *Sigh* I think this is why I dislike drawing ... real things. There's a certain expectation .... (which I can't fulfill :P). But this is my best attempt!

I have a morbid friend, who, after seeing my Heart Tree from below, decided she wanted one with thorns and blood. I obliged, and this is the end result. Hah. It looked more depressing in my mind, though. Ah well, this will do. =)

I actually wanted to do something Halloween related, but for some reason nothing looked good. Then this Chinese song popped up - 證明 by 何以奇, and the lyrics 給我愛 just stuck with me. So I decided to go for something sappy, sue me! I have my moments. =) Sigh.
Wouldn't it be nice to have love grow on trees so you can pluck it whenever you needed or wanted it? Gimme loooooove~~~~~ :( Where's my love?

Final product. The animation always uses the un-edited pictures. Sigh. I wish my scanner was better. But oh well.

I was reading an article in Time Magazine recently about cancer, and they had these pictures of different cancer cells. If I didn't know that they were cancer cells, I think I would've liked them a lot more. They're actually kind of pretty, especially with the bright stain colors. But yah, cancer is bad (don't smoke!)! Anyway, I did this after reading that article, and I guess I was subliminally inspired. :P

Photoshop also crashed on my three times during my attempt at making the colors look prettier on computer. Sigh. First two times had me saving not ALL that I had done, so had to redo a lot of it. Thankfully the third time I'd just finished and saved. Goodness. This took way longer than planned. Less time spent drawing, more time spent editing. STUPID PHOTOSHOP. Arghhhh.

I get my inspirations before I fall asleep. Had this idea in my mind yesterday (in black and white, though). Didn't think to use colors until I bought myself a set of colorful Stabilo Fine 0.4 markers. :) Rarely do I draw in color. Normally it's black and white and then edited in PSD to make it colorful. Maybe now I'll draw more in color.

The final picture from my animated gif ... I don't know. I always feel like my drawings look better than when it's scanned and put on the internet. :\ And I always end up feeling dissatisfied with the end result. This kind of sucks. So complex, so convoluted, so all over the place. Argh!

I decided to take my cousin's advice and draw on a rather large (read: A4) white paper. That was deadly. I think it too me more than 6 hours to finish and had to take many breaks because my wrist cramped up and fingers started hurting ... Yah, I think it's because I hold on to the pen too tight. Anyway, as I was drawing, it seemed like the lines were encroaching and running over all the white spaces! So, I decided to do a little animation of a small blue blob's inevitable covering by lines. :P
I wanted to upload it here, but whenever I did, the GIF animation wouldn't work, so I gave up and uploaded it onto deviantart. Click HEREHEREHEREHERE to see. It's kind of sloppy because it was supposed to be a fun aside thing to the final product, which I have yet to edit because this animation business took far more effort than I'd realized or thought. But eh, end result's alright. Maybe I'll clean it up a little bit one of these days. :)

I didn't realize this one was drawn two years ago (wow! I've been drawing for some time now) until just now. Insane. Anyway, I still remember drawing this while visiting Ottawa in the summer by one of the many lakes that were there. It was a very relaxing and calm time. :)

One of the few pieces I did while in Taiwan. This was after I'd bought some paint for cloth materials, and since I rarely, if ever, use paint brushes, I figured I should practice on paper first before trying to paint on cloth. Good thing I did! Paintbrushes are so hard to control, or maybe I was just doing it wrong. But then, painting on paper is nothing like painting on cloth. Story for another day. *Sigh*

I had this big calendar paper (those big Chinese kinds that are blank on the other side) that I wanted to draw on with a Sharpie, until I realized I left my Sharpie in my sister's bag, which she had brought back to Taiwan already. DUMB. So then I just randomly started doodling with a marker and somehow came up with sunflower dudes and clouds and ..... yah. I don't pretend to know how my mind works. :P Edited and colored on Photoshop!

I had really entertained the idea of sticking these in random places and then taking pictures of them. But then it was so close to departure time from Taiwan that I ended up not having the time to do it. BOOO. And I also left them in Taiwan, so can't stick them randomly here in Belgium. Meh, when I go back for summer next year I guess. :)

With moving date approaching, getting less time to do anything except help pack. So, more old pictures! This one was drawn back when I was still in UCLA. I was trying to do the 12 Chinese Zodiacs, but I stopped after doing the dragon and mouse. Maybe I should get back to it. Hmmmm.
